We’ll skim through the pristine waters of Marco Island, Naples, and The Ten Thousand Islands National Wildlife Refuge on our 24 foot Sweetwater pontoon boat with double Bimini top for shade from the sun. This boat is perfect for large parties that want to go shelling, sightseeing and picnics as well.

Wildlife and Habitat

The rich estuarine, mangrove, and marsh habitats of Ten Thousand Islands National Wildlife Refuge attract hundreds of species of wildlife.

Birds

More than 200 bird species are known to use Ten Thousand Islands National Wildlife Refuge. Migratory birds use the Refuge as resting and feeding grounds. Mangrove islands that are a key characteristic of the area also protect birds during storms.

Fish

Nearly 200 fish species have been documented in the waters of Ten Thousand Islands National Wildlife Refuge. Estuaries and back bays of the mangrove forest serve as important nursery grounds for many fish species, including listed species like the goliath grouper. Sport fish are also common throughout the Refuge and offer an exciting past time to many visiting and local anglers.

Mammals

The Florida manatee and bottle-nosed dolphins are the most commonly encountered marine mammals in Ten Thousand Islands National Wildlife Refuge. Mammals such as raccoons, bobcats, river otters, bobcats, Florida black bears, and the Florida panther may be spotted on mangrove islands and the mainland areas of the Refuge.

Reptiles

Frequently found year-round in the sub-tropical climate of Ten Thousand Islands National Wildlife Refuge, reptile species here include loggerhead sea turtles, green sea turtles, diamond back terrapins, gopher tortoises, Florida box turtles, South Florida kingsnake, eastern hognose snake, American Alligators, the occasional American crocodile, and many more.
